8 a]Describe the hydrogen production by photo catalytic water splitting method.
Photo catalytic water splitting:
Splitting of H2O to get Hydrogen by using photocatalyst using solar energy called photocatalytic water splitting. This process is more efficient when Photocatalyst is suspended in water.

• When light of energy E=hν falls on photocatalyst electrons and holes are produced.
• Holes interact with water to form H+ ions.
• These H+ ions interact with electrons in presence of co-catalyst (nanoparticles)
to form H2

• Hydrogen fuel cells can power vehicles and any portable device that uses batteries.
• Stationary hydrogen fuel cells are clean, reliable source of power to cities, towns, and buildings.
• Stationary fuel cells are used for commercial, industrial and residential primary and backup power generation.
• Fuel cells are used as power sources in remote locations, such as spacecraft, remote weather stations, large parks, communications centers, rural locations including research stations, and in certain military applications.
