Factors influencing conduction in organic polymers:-

  1. Effect of dopant: It has been observed that as the addition of dopant causes more charging sites hence conductivity will be going increase.
  2. Effect of Temperature: as temperature increases electrons in the valance band gain kinetic energy hence more electrons will move from the conduction band to the valance band. It has been observed that conductivity is increased by Temperature
  3. Effect of Band Gap: It has been observed that conductivity increases with decreasing bandgap. Metals have zero band gaps, while insulators like many polymers have large band gaps (1.5 to 4 eV) which impede electron flow.
